Empowering Local Communities Together
Our Mission
The mission of HHCI is to serve the traditionally underserved and marginalized including, but not limited to, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and the unhoused in Shelby County.
Who We Are
We serve individuals who are traditionally underserved and marginalized, including the unhoused and adults with disabilities. Many face barriers to essential resources such as nutrition, healthcare, and transportation—often due to discrimination, financial hardship, or geographic isolation. Our mission is to break down these barriers by connecting people with the support they need, fostering equity, and improving overall quality of life.
What We Do
-
We hope to assist with transportation needs to and from appointments, shelters, grocery stores, pharmacies, and any other necessary trips.
-
We would like to assist with the installation of items in homes to aid with accessibility, mobility, and safety, enabling clients to live at home longer. These could include items such as wheelchair ramps, handrails, and grab bars for bathrooms.
-
In extreme weather throughout the year, we will help individuals weatherproof their living quarters. This could be caulking windows, clearing sidewalks, weatherstripping doors, and checking smoke/carbon monoxide detectors.
-
To ensure equitable access to nutrition and transportation services for all community members through partnerships with public and social services, policymakers, and supporters.
